Équité Association applauds a significant step forward in the fight against auto theft in Canada. The Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Public Safety, has announced the deployment of a cutting-edge mobile X-ray scanner in the Greater Toronto Area. This advanced technology, part of the National Action Plan Combatting Auto Theft, will play a crucial role in disrupting, dismantling, and prosecuting the organized criminal groups behind these crimes.

Auto theft is not just a theft—it's funding organized crime. That is why initiatives like this are so vital. With the Government of Canada's commitment and innovative solutions, we are already seeing positive results in 2024.

"I commend the federal government for their ongoing action and commitment to combating auto theft. This new mobile X-ray scanner represents a significant step forward in our efforts to safeguard our communities. By leveraging advanced technology, we are not only enhancing our ability to intercept stolen vehicles but also sending a strong message to organized crime groups. Thanks to these continued government initiatives, we are witnessing encouraging progress this year," shared Terri O'Brien, President & CEO, Équité Association.

Équité Association is proud to support this initiative and collaborate with the Government of Canada, law enforcement, and other stakeholders, to combat auto theft keeping our communities safe for Canadians.
