About the Role

We use a wide range of data and intelligence to achieve four objectives:

  1. Help insurers identify fraud through integrated advanced analytics and investigations;
  2. Enhance and enable cross-insurer investigations coordinated by Équité;
  3. Lead stakeholder in vehicle and hard-asset recover & identification services; and
  4. Support law enforcement, regulators, professional colleges and other public investigative agencies to identify criminals and bring them to justice. We will also endeavour to raise public awareness about consumer scams: how they work and how to detect and prevent them.

The Data Product Specialist, reports to the Director, Analytics and Product Development and requires the ability to anticipate needs, think critically, and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.  The Data Product Specialist role is primarily responsible for driving the development and improvement of data-centric products through drafting of technical specifications. Serving as a vital link between business and technical domains, they ensure data products align with strategic objectives and deliver tangible value. Working with the Director, Analytics and Product Development, the data team and cross-functional teams, the role will lead the entire product lifecycle, working closely with teams to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Specific accountabilities include:

  • Develop the technical and requirements, translated from the business requirements, and participate in the testing and execution of data analytics products for Équité and the ÉQ Insights platform
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts and data engineers to analyze diverse sources of data to devise new product technical requirements
  • Develop a technical requirements for data platforms and translate business goals into actionable tasks for data engineers to code and develop into products.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define clear and actionable technical requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong understanding of data technologies and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data engineering team, program delivery, and business/investigations teams to drive product development and successful launches.
  • Define core metrics that measure the data analytics drivers of the business
  • Lead testing initiatives to ensure the technical requirements have been met.
  • Examine performance metrics and user input to pinpoint areas for improvement and advancement.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years work experience in data analytics technical domain with a high level of data maturity, and in an Agile environment
  • Strong experience with Agile tools like Jira and Confluence
  • A university degree in the field of Information Technology
  • Strong skills in communication and collaboration
  • A deep understanding of technical requirements drafting
  • A strong analytical mindset coupled with the capacity to convert business needs into technical specifications and vice versa
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly, collaborative attitude
  • Comfortable and excels within remote work environment
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and data querying languages (e.g., SQL) preferred.
